Another popular foam that is commonly used in mattresses is latex. Latex in its natural state is a substance that comes from the rubber tree. The latex used in foam mattresses is usually either natural, synthetic or a combination of the two. When produced, latex is either made using the Talalay process or the Dunlop process. Depending on the process used will vary the feel, Dunlop is typically firmer and Talalay is usually softer.
Latex foam is great for mattresses because it relieves pressure as well as has a natural spring that is very responsive to movement. It also is typically aerated to aide in heat dissipation and air circulation. Our latex mattress section focuses on mattresses that are made of 100% latex or use latex, natural and synthetic, as their main comfort layer.
