The Tuft and Needle mattress like most mattresses ships to your house for free. It will come delivered to your house in a compact box. The mattress will weigh around 60 pounds and will be a little awkward to maneuver on your on when you are setting it up.

The Tuft and Needle mattress will need a bit of time to expand. We recommend letting the mattress sit for at least 12 hours to fully expand before trying to sleep on it. With both of these choices, you won’t even need to have a box spring in order to make them work.

Tomorrow Sleep vs Tuft and Needle – Off Gassing:

our rating guideThe number one concern most people have when unboxing a mattress is potential off-gassing.  With the Tomorrow Sleep mattress, you won’t have to worry about any off-gassing, especially if you go with the white glove delivery service. In fact, the only scent you will catch is from the plastic.

The Tuft and Needle mattress, on the other hand, on the other hand, will have some slight off-gassing to it. Thanks to this you will probably want to let the Tuft and Needle mattress air out before use. This is especially useful if you are sensitive to smells. We recommend giving the mattress at least 12 hours in the same room to fully air out before use.

Not a fan of off gassing or man made materials? Than a natural mattress may be the best bet. Learn more on our Best Natural Mattresses page.

Tomorrow Sleep Memory Foam Mattress Materials:

The Tomorrow Sleep memory foam mattress is made up of three different layers and is 10 inches thick. The first layer of the Tomorrow Sleep mattress is made of 1 inch of 2.8-pound cooling open cell memory foam. This layer provides true pressure relief while still giving you a classic memory foam feel. This layer also helps to regulate the mattress to your body temperature and features an open cell design. The second layer of the Tomorrow Sleep mattress is 2 inches of 2.5-pound pressure relief swirling gel memory foam. This layer is made to be softer than the last to give you deeper comfort.

This layer is perfect for dissipating heat and works to perfectly conform to the shape of your body while you sleep. This combined with the top layer works to help distribute weight across the bed while providing you with a deep level of comfort. The final layer of the tomorrow sleep memory foam mattress is 7-inches of 2-pound high-density base foam. This layer provides the majority of the support for the mattress and helps add to the durability of the bed. This is all covered in a breathable knit cover. This cover is made to be cool and durable to help protect your mattress for years to come.

Tuft and Needle Mattress Materials:

The Tuft and Needle mattress is a 10-inch thick bed made up of only two layers of foam to give it it’s medium firm feeling. The first layer of this bed is 3 inches thick and is a proprietary Tuft and Needle adaptive foam that has gel beads added in. The layer rest between a memory foam and latex feel and has does feel cheaper than some higher end layers out on the market. The layer does adapt to your movements well and works to help keep the mattress cool while you rest on it at night.

The second and last layer of the Tuft and Needle mattress is 7-inches of 1.8-pound dense base foam. This layer doesn’t provide the greatest support out there, but it does have a decent amount of support when you sleep on it. This is all covered in a polyester and rayon blend cover. The cover is made to be breathable and lightweight and will protect the core mattress from any potential spills that happen on top of it.

Tomorrow Sleep Mattress Comfort:

tomorrow sleep memory foam mattressThe Tomorrow Sleep mattress goes for a universal feel instead of offering multiple options. The mattress has a medium-firm feel to it that should appease the vast majority of sleepers and balances out comfort with firmness. It uses a combo of memory foam and dense supportive foams to achieve this feeling. It also focuses on contouring to your body and providing pressure relief where you need it most.

The Tomorrow Sleep memory foam mattress will work well for just about any sleep position out there. In fact, back and stomach sleepers will find that the Tomorrow mattress has the ideal amount of support for them. For back sleepers, you will find that the surface of the mattress perfectly contours to your back for maximum comfort. Side sleepers who are looking for more support while still having a little sink will love this option as well. If your a side sleeper who likes a lot of sink to your bed then the Tomorrow Sleep mattress may not be for you. Stomach sleepers will love how this mattress keeps their back from bowing during the night.

The Tomorrow Sleep all foam mattress will also work pretty well for heavier sleepers as well. Since this mattress uses denser foams it is able to hold up to 1,000 pounds, more than the industry standard. This also helps the mattress be durable for years to come and makes it a perfect choice for a heavier sleeper who needs a little more support. All of this combines together to make an amazingly comfortable mattress for everyone and has a pretty cheap price point.

Tuft and Needle Mattress Comfort:

Tuft & Needle mattressThe Tuft and Needle mattress goes for a universal feel as well, this is to try to fit into the most amount of sleepers lives at once. This means that the Tuft and Needle only comes in one comfort level for you to choose from and is considered a medium-firm model of mattress. The Tuft and Needle hits between a 6.5 to a 7 on the ten-point firmness scale putting it just a little above the middle point.

The mattresses comfort level will work well for many types of people. Back sleepers will be pleased to find that it provides a fair amount of lumbar support for them. The mattress also works to conform to both your shoulders and neck for deeper comfort. If you are a stomach sleeper then you will find the Tuft and Needle to be firm enough to support you where needed. This will keep your back from bowing during the night. If you sleep on your side then you will find that this mattress may be a little to firm for you. We recommend going for another model if you like your hip and shoulders to sink into the foam.

For heavier sleepers, you will find that the Tuft and Needle probably won’t be the best choice if you’re looking for support. The base of this mattress won’t be as supportive as other mattresses and will end up feeling softer than it should.  The top layer of this mattress does try to find a medium between a latex and foam feeling. Thanks to this the mattress lets you sink in while not making you feel like your stuck in the foam when you go to turn. Over time you may find that the mattress has less and less core support. We don’t trust that the Tuft and Needle will hold up well over time. It does have a decent medium-firm feel to start with, but we can’t promise it can keep this up for years to come.

Tomorrow Sleep vs Tuft and Needle – Motion Transfer:

glass of wine sitting on a bedWhen it comes to motion transfer it can be a huge deal breaker for many couples that are trying to share a sleeping space. This can especially be true for couples who have just moved in together and are caught off guard by each others sleeping patterns. We are happy to say the both the Tomorrow Sleep mattress and the Tuft and Needle mattress work well to isolate motion. Both of these choices are great for people who share a bed and don’t want to wake up their partner with their tossing and turning at night.

Tomorrow Sleep vs Tuft and Needle – Temperature Regulation:

The Tomorrow Sleep memory foam mattress uses a few different techniques to keep things cool at night. The first layer of the Tomorrow mattress uses open cell technology to promote good airflow. The second layer of the mattress is infused with cooling gel to help things out even more. This may not be the best for a warm sleeper like many other foam brands.

Learn more about Tomorrow Sleep with our in-depth Mattress Review or at

The Tuft and Needle mattress will run a little bit warmer than the Tomorrow Sleep mattress. The mattress does have gel beads infused in that help it sleep cooler. The firmer feel of the bed will have to keep it a little cooler, overall though this bed won’t be perfect for sleepers who get hot easily.

If sleeping cool is at the top of your list check out our great selection of recommendations in our Best Mattresses for Hot Sleepers.

Tomorrow vs Tuft and Needle – Edge Support:

Edge support can be one of the most important factors in making or breaking a mattress. A bed without proper edge support won’t let you use the full surface space of the mattress. This makes sleeping near the edge of the bed uncomfortable.

Out of the two choices above the Tomorrow Sleep memory foam mattress pulls ahead when it comes to edge sleeping. The Tuft and Needle lacks the amount of support the Tomorrow mattress has and we feel that this could only get worse with years of use. Both beds won’t be that great for edge sitting, but you can use the Tomorrow for putting your shoes on in the morning.
