Purple vs Yaasa: Delivery

yaasa studios mattress reviewThe delivery process for these two mattress is basically the same. Both offer free shipping with your purchase. They are also both made in the USA, compressed, put into a compact box and shipped right to your door.

One thing that stands out for both of these mattresses is there packaging details, including a welcome kit with their mattresses. Yaasa Studios send out a welcome kit before you even get your mattress. It includes information on the bed, a guide to opening and unboxing. As well as unboxing tool that is optimal for cutting the plastic.

Getting this kit prior to the mattress definitely adds to the anticipation and excitement of what’s to come. Purple also comes with a welcoming kit and handy unboxing tool too, this comes with the mattress. It is nice that both offer these and shows great attention to the details of unboxing.

Purple vs Yaasa: Unboxing & Off Gassing

As far as the off gassing and smell goes we noticed very little, if any noxious odors at all, while unboxing the Yaasa. The Yaasa bed is not only a USA made product but uses water based glue and low VOC materials, so off gassing will not be an issue. The Purple on the other hand, did have quite a few more fumes. They also lingered for several days up to a week. When comparing the off gassing for these two mattresses we would definitely favor towards Yaasa.

The last piece of the unboxing and delivery process is the time it takes for the mattresses to fully expand. The Yaasa hybrid mattress took a few minutes to fully expand. And only a few hours to fully firm up and be ready to sleep on. If you are in a hurry to sleep on your new bed than you won’t wait long for the Yaasa bed. The Purple took several hours to fully expand after being compressed and packaged. We would recommend waiting a minimum of 6-8 hours before sleeping on the Purple. And at least a full 25 hours before getting a true feel.

Purple vs Yaasa: Comfort

The Purple & Yaasa mattress are going to vary quite a bit in feel and comfort and this aspect is highly subjective to each sleeper. However, when comparing these beds to each other there will be a few ways of objectively approach how comfortable they may be. This includes the firmness or comfort options of the bed as well as the materials and construction of each.

First looking at the Purple mattress, this bed has one comfort option. A universal feel that will be around a 5.5 to 6 on a firmness scale of 1 through 10. 1 being the softest and 10 being firmest. This medium-firm feel is usually ideal for the majority of sleepers, hence why they only have one feel.

The Yaasa Studios mattress has two comfort options, soft and firm. The soft choice is around a 3 to 4 on the firmness scale and the firm comes in around a 6 to 7. These choices cover all the most popular feels to make finding the perfect fit easy to find. Rather you’re a side sleeper, stomach sleeper or a couple with different preferences the Yaasa hybrid mattress will have you covered.

Purple Materials:

The Purple mattress is a little less than 10″ mattress that uses 3 layers of foam and polymer. The top layer is going to be 2″ of a hyper-elastic polymer formed into a grid. This layer provides pressure relief as well as optimal air flow. This is followed by 3.5″ of transition foam. These comfort layers sit on a 4″ base foam. During our time sleeping on the Purple mattress we found that the materials and comfort level would probably work well for many people, but the unique feel of the grid texture on the top layer may be difficult to adjust to for some.

Purple vs Yaasa: Our Pick

As far as our personal opinion on the comfort of each of these mattresses we both felt more support and better comfort sleeping on the Yaasa mattress. We tried the firm option and found it to be very consistent, yet adaptable & pressure relieving feel that worked really well for all sleeping positions. The Purple mattress does do a nice job of relieving pressure but felt a little lacking in support, especially if you are a stomach sleeper. The grid is unique and adds a quality unlike many beds we’ve tried, but it also was borderline distracting.

As stated earlier comfort and firmness preference will be subjective, however, the materials and feel of the materials of a mattress can be a good place to start when your are objectively deciding which may be more comfortable initially as well as after several years of sleeping.

Purple vs Yaasa: Motion Transfer

purple vs puffy mattress comparisonThe motion transfer for both of these brands is quite minimal. As far as the Yaasa hybrdi mattress goes the motion transfer is minimal. This mattress works with the materials used to isolate motion transfer as best as possible. The hybrid mattresses use a pocketed coil system that helps reduce excess vibrations. There are also several layers of premium foams over the coil system to soften and deaden and vibrations that would cause partner disturbance.

As far as the Purple mattress goes with motion transfer, this all foam mattress doesn’t have any coils. However, it does have a top layer that is a very responsive polymer that will move more than latex or memory foam. It won’t be anything overly noticeable or cause a ton of vibrations, but when comparing these mattresses side by side the Yaasa has less motion transfer than the Purple mattress.

Purple vs Yaasa: Sleeping Cool

As you already know, the Purple mattress is an all foam mattress while the Yaasa is a hybrid. Anytime you have all foam mattresses retaining heat may be more likely than one a mattress that utilizes a coil system. While a coil system will naturally help dissipate heat better. However, both of these mattresses pay close attention to their mattresses sleeping cool.

yaasa studios mattress reviewThe Yaasa Studios bed does a great job for sleeping cool. Both of the Yaasa hybrid mattresses incorporate a top layer of Infinity foam. This foam is a more breathable foam that should help retain less heat.

The firm mattress also uses a layer of latex. Which is naturally aerated foam that is also more responsive. It also will help keep you cooler as well as move a little easier from one position to the other. The Yaasa mattress also has a TENCEL blend cover. This cover is not only soft but also very breathable, moisture wicking and anti-bacterial.

The top layer of the Purple mattress is the unique polymer grid, we have mentioned numerous times already. Two of the best features about that grid is its ability to relieve pressure as well as dissipate heat. This grid has about 1.5″ to 2″ of open space that allows for plenty of heat to escape and not be held against your body. This makes for this mattress to not only feel different but work well if you are a warm sleeper too.

Purple vs Yaasa: Edge Support

purple vs puffy mattress comparisonEdge support may or may not be something that is a big concern to you. However, if it is than paying attention to how well constructed and durable the materials are will play a roll. Edge support is important if you sit on the edge form time to time. It is also important to ensure you can use the full bed for sleeping. Good edge support allows for full edge to edge sleeping surface use of your mattress. Making sure that even the perimeter is solid and will hold up will make a difference in how comfortable it is. As well as the long term durabilty as well as how it performs for you.

The Yaasa hybrid will feel stable and sturdy and consistent from to side to side. The Yaasa mattress options use thick durable foams as well as a solid edge to edge coil system. Sleeping on this mattress you will notice no difference from being on the edge or being in the middle. The focus on detail and quality doesn’t go unnoticed and shows up in all categories of the Yaasa mattress.

The Purple bed has a less support around the perimeter. While sleeping you don’t want to get too close to the edge or you may feel a “rolling out of the bed” type feel. It also does not have adequate support for sitting for any period of time.

Purple vs Yaasa: Value

Notice that don’t use the term price, but instead value, because value and price are not the same thing. Value is going to be what you are getting for what the price is. Sometimes a price may seem like a good number but if you aren’t getting the best product for that price than the value isn’t that great. This is especially true for mattresses. There are several brands that will fall around the same price, but you really have to understand what you are paying for if you want a good value.

yaasa studios mattress reviewThe Yaasa hybrid mattress is an amazing value. This bed comes in at $1299 for a queen size and includes free shipping as well additional discounts from their latest coupon available.

To have this kind of luxury all while having great support and superior benefits is priceless. As well as premium materials and durable construction with ultimate comfort. This mattress is certainly able to deliver on top notch quality without breaking the bank.

This mattress may be right up your ally, and if that is the case, great. It is a 9.5″ thick mattress with a unique polymer grid that may be great if you like a different feel that relieves pressure and stays cool. It has a very beefed up marketing campaign that doesn’t pay for itself, so just realize that when buying any mattress that is highly advertised that there is a portion of that equated into the price you are paying.
