Let’s start with one of our all time favorite materials to use in a natural/organic mattress, wool. Not only is wool a temperature regulating material it is also a natural, chemical free fire retardant. Which means the wool provides plush comfort, a neutral sleeping temperature, moisture wicking properties… we could seriously go on and on. (And we have in our post all about it, Wool! Glorious Wool!) As much as we love organic wool, there are other lovely natural materials in this crib mattress that make it so lovely for little ones.

The coconut core is airy and firm yet flexible. While the organic cotton is soft and breathable. Nest Bedding also put in a coil system that is thin and durable. The coils provide flexible stability to the Organic Crib Mattress, they also ensure the mattress gets much more airflow throughout the bed than an all foam design would allow. This helps to keep your little one from overheating.

Crib Bamboo Protector – Jersey

This is a softer to the touch, slightly lower priced crib protector option. While this is not a completely waterPROOF mattress protector. it does a nice job at keeping any spills or accidents at the surface and prevents the moisture from immediately soaking into the mattress.

If accidents are left for extended periods of time it may eventually wick down an get onto the mattress itself. However, it is a decent first line of defense. It is also slightly more breathable and a bit more soft and cool than traditional mattress protectors.
