tulo Firm Mattress – Brief Overview:
The tulo firm option is designed for the person who likes lots of support. This option is still comfortable but will be a firmer bed and probably more of a mattress for back sleepers. This mattress is perfect for someone who wants total body support and likes a feeling on sleeping “on” the bed. This mattress is also great for someone who likes more spinal support while sleeping on their back too. On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, this mattress will be about a 7.5 to 8. With 1 being the softest and 10 the firmest.

tulo Medium Mattress – Brief Overview
The tulo medium option is designed for the person who likes the perfect blend of soft and firm bed. This option is best for someone who sleeps in all positions as well as stomach sleepers. It is also great for couples who prefer different feels or have different sleeping positions. It will be firm enough for stomach sleepers but still soft enough for side sleepers. The medium option is the most popular choice and will work for the vast majority of sleepers and sleeping positions. This one has a firmness level of about 5.

tulo Soft Mattress – Brief Overview
The tulo soft option is designed for the person who likes a more plush bed. More than likely this sleeper is a side sleeper or back sleeper who likes a softer feel. This mattress is designed to be more ideal for relieving pressure on your shoulders and hips. This mattress will be about a 3 on the firmness scale and appeal to anyone who likes to feel like they are sleeping “in” the bed.

Delivery & Off Gassing:
The very first thing to do with your new tulo mattress is take it out of the box and get it set up. It should show up right at your door and in a fairly compact box, for a mattress anyway. Getting it to where it needs to go may take two sets of hands. It is about 75 lbs and a little awkward to maneuver if you’re on your own. Once you get it to where you’ll be sleeping it should only take a few minutes to get it out of the box and take it out of the plastic and come to life.
During the unboxing process, there is minimal off gassing. With most boxed mattresses there will be a little bit of smell once it is allowed to unroll and take shape, but this one is made in the US which helps tremendously with cutting down on any noxious odors. It should be fine within a few hours but if you are more sensitive to certain smells letting it breath up to 12 hours would probably be a good idea. Also, this mattress will need a few hours to fully expand before sleeping on it. But should be good to go in no time.
This mattress was a piece of cake to unbox. See for yourself in our tulo mattress review unboxing video below!
When setting up your new tulo mattress it will need a foundation that provides a flat, even surface that will support the weight of the mattress as well as the sleepers. It also will need to be the right height for you as well as be aesthetically appealing. The tulo bed would work great on a box spring with or without a frame, an adjustable base, a platform bed or slatted bed. To find a foundation option that would work for you, check out our frames & bases reviews too.
In this part, we cover the most important part. The tulo mattresses use four layers of foam to create their 10″ mattress. The top layer is a hugging and pressure relieving memory foam. A layer of responsive poly foam that adds bounce and easy moving. As well as another layer of high resiliency poly foam to create a smooth transition between the top layers and dense base foam. These comfort layers work together to create a balanced and supportive feel regardless of whether you have the soft, medium or firm bed.
This mattress is available in three firmness options, soft, medium and firm. The soft options should fall around a 3 on a firmness scale of 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. This option will work best for side sleepers and back sleepers because it will be softer on top and allow you to sink in a bit more and contour to your shoulders and hips.
The medium option should come in at about a 5 on the firmness scale. This option would work well for any sleeping position because it should be soft enough to contour to your body but firm enough to provide the necessary support. It also most ideal for couples, since it works best for all sleeping positions, shapes, and sizes.
The firm option will be around a 7.5 to 8 on the firmness scale. The firm option would work best for stomach sleepers as well as back sleepers and will have a more solid cushioned top that won’t let you sink in too much. It is also good to note that if you are a heavier person that these options will feel a little softer to you, so keep that in mind. Having the option to choose between three firmness levels should allow you to find the right feel that is best for you.
The tulo mattress will do very well for motion isolation and movement. This mattress is an all foam bed that utilizes a variety of foams, including memory foam. Memory foam is great for absorbing vibrations and drastically cuts down and partner disturbance.
Motion transfer on the tulo will be very minimal if any at all. This is great for anyone who shares a mattress, especially lighter sleepers too. Regardless of which comfort option you choose, each is good at motion isolating.
When it comes to sleeping cool there are a few things that the tulo mattress offers. Like many all foam beds in the mattresses industry holding heat can sometimes be more of an issue. To combat this there is a layer of foam that is more breathable. This will help dissipate heat a little more.
However, not having a coil system or a convoluted layer of foam will make it harder for heat to dissipate. Another option with the tulo that will make a difference with sleeping cool is the firmness choices. The firmer the mattress is the less you will sink in. This makes sleeping warmer less problematic if less of your body is touching.
The support around the perimeter of the tulo mattresses should provide a consistent and fully usable feeling sleeping surface. The base foam is dense and sturdy and allows for the majority of this mattress to be used for sleeping. Sleeping on this mattress you should not feel a huge difference of support from the edge to the middle.
However, if you use the edge of your mattress for sitting, you will notice less support, especially if sitting for an extended period of time. If you utilize your mattress to sit on the edge for any reason, you may want to look at a bed with more edge support.
The firmer mattress does offer a bit denser feel, while the soft has even less support. The medium falls right in between the two. Regardless of which option you go with, this mattress will provide a consistent feeling and mostly usable sleeping surface. This is the most important aspect of edge support for the majority of sleepers.

Materials & Construction:
This mattress is 10″ thick and has four layers of foam. The top layer is 2” of 3.25lb Proprietary Memory Foam. It is a blend of titanium particles and high-density Cool Flow ventilated memory foam. This layer is great for pressure relief as well as evenly distributing weight.
The 2nd layer is 1.5″ of 2.5lb Responsive Poly Foam. This layer has a “peak & valley” design to provide good airflow to help dissipate heat and keep the mattress cooler. It is also a comfort layer that will add a feeling of responsiveness that is easy to move.
Under the top two layers is1.5″ of 2.5lb High Resiliency Firm Foam. This layer uses strut reinforcing technology to create a foam that maintains the mattresses durability and reduces surface compression. This layer also is great for providing adaptable support and works well as a transition layer between the comfort foams and base foam.
The foundation of this mattress is a firm foam. 5″ of 1.8lb High-Density Base Foam to be exact. This layer is the core of the mattress and provides much of the durability, support and base of the bed. It is a great layer for the other layers to rest on and perform accordingly.
All of the tulo mattresses are covered in a combination of a breathable knitted Polyester and Tencel blended fabric. This cover is reinforced with a Polyester Elastan blended material for maximum durability.
Trial Period & Warranty:
The tulo mattress has a 120 night sleep trial period. This is a bit longer than many other online mattress companies offer. This allows you a few extra days to see if it is the right bed for you. We highly doubt that this mattress won’t be loved instantly, but if for some reason it doesn’t, Mattress Firm will gladly work with you to make sure you are taken care of.
Tulo offers a 10 year limited warranty. Like most mattress warranties the 10 year Mattress Firm warranty is prorated to coincide with the natural average wear of the bed over time. This is fairly standard and provides consumers with the confidence that this is a product that the company will stand behind.
