Off Gassing

The very first thing we needed to do with our new Tuck mattress is take it out of the box and get it set up. It should show up right at your door and in a fairly compact box, for a mattress anyway. Getting it to where it needs to go will take two sets of hands. It is a very solid mattress that is about 120 lbs and a little awkward to maneuver in a 17″ x 17″ x 45″ box. Once you get it to where you’ll be sleeping it should only take a few minutes to get it out of the box and take it out of the plastic and come to life.

During the unboxing process you may notice a bit of off gassing but it should be very minimal, if any at all. With most boxed mattresses there will be a little bit of smell initially. Once it is allowed to unroll and take shape it should dissipate. It should be fine within a few hours but if you are more sensitive to certain smells letting it breath up to 12 hours would probably be a good idea.

See how easy the unboxing process is in out video below!

When setting up your new mattress it will need a foundation that provides a flat, even surface that will support the weight of the mattress as well as the sleepers. It also will need to be the right height for you as well as be aesthetically appealing. The Tuck mattress would work great on a box spring with or without a frame, an adjustable base, a platform bed or slatted bed. To find a foundation that would work for you check out our frames & bases reviews.

Comfort

The Tuck mattress will be the most optimal for comfort because it is customized to your specific needs. Having this ingenuity allows for everyone’s desired comfort to be achieved. Regardless of your sleeping position it will be designed to work with you. So this makes it great for back, stomach and side sleepers. This unique and perfectly designed mattress will fall exactly on the firmness scale where you need it to. So there won’t be any need to try and choose what you think is best for you, someone else will take all your assessments and make sure it is the perfect feel. The Tuck is wonderful for the heavier person who needs more support too. Your weight is taken into consideration and worked into the engineering of your mattress, so more dense, supportive foams are used to ensure your comfort need are met too.

Not only is it created for you but it is made with quality materials that make for a contouring, yet responsive feel. The top layer of copper infused gel memory foam hugs and contours to your body while the layer below that of Dunlop latex helps give a bit of bounce to help you easily move and relieve pressure. These top comfort layers are adjusted to your needs using either firmer or softer foams to be ideal for you.

This mattress is a hybrid mattress, meaning that they also utilize a coil system. This particular mattress not only uses pressure relieving micro coils but it also has a pocketed coil support core that gives ideal support for spinal alignment and ergonomics. All of these materials paired together and adjusted to your needs makes for an ideal comfort. And even goes above and beyond by than taking these perfectly paired materials and adjusting them just for you.

Our Tuck mattress was the perfect combination of support and comfort. We had a blended mattress that was a luxury firm feel with the proper amount of support for our sizes and preference. The quality materials allowed for the bed to have just enough hug and responsiveness all while giving great ergonomic alignment. The memory foam allowed for pressure relief and the added copper helped dissipate heat as well as having the natural antimicrobial properties were a bonus. The latex gave added pressure relief as well as responded well and naturally helped eliminate heat. We were very happy with the mattress made specifically for us and know it would be a perfect mattress for anybody.

Motion Transfer

This mattress is a hybrid mattress that uses not one, but two sets of coils as well as memory foam and latex. This mattress may the slightest bit of movement from the coil system, but hardly any vibrations can be felt when moving and isn’t disruptive at all. The coil systems are both pocketed, meaning each coil is wrapped in fabric. This alone will greatly reduce any motion transfer. It also has placed the memory foam above the latex and that too will allow for minimal motion to be detected.

The foams alone should absorb the majority of vibrations and make for very minimal motion transfer to be felt. This mattress would be great for anyone who shares a bed because of this, there will be little disturbance when getting in and out of bed. It also would be great for lighter sleepers who are more sensitive to movement, you shouldn’t feel a thing. While sleeping on the Tuck we didn’t notice any motion transfer and found that the materials performed just as intended to reduce any vibrations.

Sleeps Cool

The Tuck mattress has several features that will aid in keeping the mattress as cool as you need it to be. The coil systems allows for support as well as plenty of air circulation and breathability. This is one of the great things about coil systems in general, they allow for any heat to dissipate and hardly any heat retention. The latex layer is also great for sleeping cool, this naturally aerated material doesn’t hold much heat and should maintain an ideal temperature.

The top layer of memory foam is also infused with not only cooling gel but also copper. Copper is a naturally antimicrobial as well as a natural heat dissipator and will help keep the bed cool and clean. All of this is covered by a breathable polyester rayon blended fabric that is not only soft but also moisture wicking. All of this allows for most anyone to maintain an ideal temperature while sleeping. Sleeping cool was definitely not an issue for us with this mattress. Again, this well crafted and thought out mattress checked every box, including sleeping cool.

Edge Support

The edge support on the Tuck mattress should feel very stable and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. This mattress goes the extra mile in creating a more dense, durable edge. The coil system uses a higher gauge steel coil around the perimeter of the mattress. This creates a very durable edge that even will be good for sitting on the edge, which many boxed mattresses lack. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. We found the edge support to be far superior to many bed in box mattresses and even with compressing these materials the design and integrity of this bed were not compromised.

Materials

The Tuck is an 11 inch mattress made of several layers of foam and coils. The top layer is copper infused gel memory foam. This memory foam has a density of 3.5lbs and an IDF between 5-15. This layer is the conforming comfort layer that helps your body conform to the mattress.

The 2nd layer is Dunlop Latex foam that is created by a continuous pour process to eliminate any air pockets as well as doesn’t need to utilize glue on the seams. This latex has a density of 3.0lbs and an IDF between 6.5-15.5. This is another comfort layer that will help relieve pressure as well as create a responsive feel for ease movement.

Between the top layers and the coil systems is a transition foam layer. This helps create a smooth transition from the feel of the comfort foams to the support of the coils. This layer is a poly foam that has a density of 1.8lbs and a IDF between 22-38.

Next is the micro coil system; this system is made out of 1,386 individually wrapped 1″ coils, in a queen size. This layer helps withpressure relief and allows for even weight distribution.

Under the micro coils is the pocketed coil support core. This layer consists of 1,037 individually wrapped 6″ Quantum coils. This coil layer is the core of the mattress and provides the support needed for optimal spinal alignment.

The base of this mattress is 1″ of dense base foam. This foam creates a solid surface for the coil system to sit on and a flat, even surface for your mattress to easily sit on any foundation. This layer of poly foam has a density of 1.8lbs and an IFD between 41-62.

All of this covered by a blend of rayon and polyester fabric that has additional cooling properties added. This cover is not only soft and aesthetically sleek but is made of 30% recycled material. This cover uses Repreve, a yarn that is made of recycled water bottles. For a queen size roughly 40 water bottles are used to create the cover. Pretty cool!
