Delivery & Unboxing:
The very first thing we needed to do with our new Spindle mattress is take it out of the box and get it set up. It should show up right at your door and in three compact boxes. These boxes are for the most part small enough to move by yourself if you are solo during set-up. Once you get them to where you’ll be sleeping you can start the assembly process.
You may want an extra set of hands to help with putting the bed together. But if you are on your own, just make sure you’re setting it up on the foundation. Because once assembled it may be tricky to move if you’re alone. It should only take around 10-20 minutes to get it unboxed and fully put together.
During the unboxing and assembly process, you won’t notice much of a smell at all. You may notice a bit of the natural smell of the latex but even that it should be very minimal. With many other boxed mattresses you will usually notice a bit of off-gassing. But because these come in separate individual boxes. Withe 100% natural materials made in the USA you won’t have to wait for this organic mattress to breathe before using it. It also won’t take any time to wait for it to expand. These layers are dense and ready to sleep on once it is assembled.
The Spindle mattress may not be like other compressed mattresses. But the unboxing and setting up process is not difficult at all. See how easy it is in our Spindle mattress review unboxing video below!
Spindle Mattress – Comfort:
The Spindle mattress is an all Dunlop latex foam mattress. With three separate 3” layers of latex layered on top of each other to create a perfect feeling mattress just for you and your customer satisfaction. When purchasing your Spindle mattress, you get to choose between soft, medium, firm and extra firm. This allows you to create an ideal mattress to your preference or feel.
Spindle – Soft Comfort:
If you go with a softer option it will still be dense but more pliable to let you sink in a bit more as the mattress guides you towards comfort and bliss. This is especially important for side sleepers who need pressure relief for their shoulders and hips and also need mattresses for back pain.
Spindle – Medium Comfort:
The medium option is the most popular, especially as a mattress for side sleepers. This works well for all sleeping positions and offers a balanced feel that works well for most shapes and sizes too. Making it a great compromise for couples who may have slightly different preferences. As well as sleepers who like a middle of the road feel or sleep in all positions.
Spindle – Firm Comfort:
If you do sleep on your stomach more frequently the firm would probably be even better as a good mattress for stomach sleepers. This option isn’t the firmest of the choices but will be more of a medium-firm feel. This feel also works well for most sizes, shapes and sleeping positions. It also is probably a more ideal option for heavier or larger sleepers who still want a little give. However, it will probably feel a little more medium to them.
Spindle – Extra Firm Comfort:
The final option, the extra firm, is very dense and still comfortable but won’t allow for much sink. This is great for anyone who likes to feel like they are sleeping on the bed and little to no sink into the bed. Again, this is probably preferred for stomach sleepers and back sleepers. Side sleepers will definitely not get the pressure relief they need with this option.
Our Spindle Mattress Comfort Experience:
We tried the medium mattress and it was exactly what you expect when you think of a medium feel, not too soft and not too firm. The latex was the perfect combination of spring and sink. And transitioning between sleeping positions was almost assisted by the mattress. The cover just enhanced the comfort of the latex. It provided a bit of extra padding by the wool batting and a nice smooth soft surface by the cotton. These natural latex mattresses exceeded our expectations and were really enjoyable to sleep on.
Spindle Mattress – Motion Transfer:
For the average person who gets up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, feed the baby, etc., your partner should feel minimal disruption due to motion transfer. This mattress is 100% Dunlop latex and there is a natural spring that will give a bit of vibration when moving. However, the quality and density of these natural latex mattresses do help cut down on any motion transfer and allows for little concern.
Spindle Mattress – Sleeping Cool:
The Spindle mattress is one of the top picks for someone who is concerned about sleeping cool. This cooling mattress is made of natural materials that inherently have features that will help regulate body temperature. The Dunlop latex is breathable and aerated to allow for optimal heat dissipation.
Also, the cover of this cooling mattress is comprised of organic cotton and wool batting. Wool is naturally moisture wicking and allows you to stay comfortable. This is done by maintaining a cooler feeling when your warm and a warmer feeling when you’re cool. So it always is working with you. The 100% cotton used is breathable and allows for the wool to do its job without interfering. It merely provides a nice soft and smooth cover to complement the bed and make it the right mattress type for hot sleepers.
Spindle Mattress – Edge Support:
The edge support on the Spindle Mattress is good, especially for an all foam mattress. The dense Dunlop latex allows for the entire surface to feel solid. This creates an edge to edge sleeping surface the makes for maximum use of the mattress with no rolling out of the bed feel. We found that sitting on the edge there felt like there was a little less support, but still felt very solid. This feature is great especially if you share a full size or queen size bed with a partner.
Spindle Mattress – Value:
This mattress is a great value when considering the amazing quality of the materials. The Spindle mattress is $1499 for a queen size. Though it may be a little more expensive than some of the other more popular online mattresses, the high end, quality organic materials make it a notch above and make it a great value.
The durability of this mattress, as well as the option of updating certain layers, makes it one that you will get more than your money out of. The natural aspects are healthy for you and the environment. And Spindle’s customer service really puts this mattress on another level. Making the experience fantastic from start to finish.

Materials & Construction:
The Spindle mattress is a 10″ mattress that is comprised of three separate layers of high quality Dunlop latex. Each of the three layers is 3” thick of Natural Dunlop Latex. And depending on what firmness level you order will be a different density to construct your perfect feeling mattress.
Dunlop latex is a very durable material that comes from the sap of a rubber tree. It is great for reducing motion and noise, relieves pressure and easily conforms to the body. It also is breathable and aerated to help reduce overheating and maintain a comfortable temperature for many hours. This mattress comes with three separate layers of latex. This allows you to adjust the firmness and softness of your bed as well as extend the life of it.
Spindle Mattress – Materials (Cover):
The removable, zippered cover is made of a 100% organic cotton with wool batting on top. As well as 100% organic cotton side panels. The very bottom of the cover is polyester, but makes up for less than 1% of the overall weight of the bed and is the only part that isn’t 100% natural.
The wool not only adds an extra layer of comfort and padding but is also a naturally moisture wicking material. This allows for the surface to maintain a comfortable temperature any time of year. It also is a natural fire barrier and without the use of chemicals provides a layer of protection between you and the latex. The 100% organic cotton top is flexible and buoyant to help reduce the feelings from motion transfer. It is also a soft, breathable layer that allows for your mattress to optimally perform.
*One thing to note about this cover is that it is removable, but it is NOT machine washable.
Trial Period & Warranty:
Spindle offers a 365-day comfort guarantee. This trial period doesn’t just give you time to try the mattress, but also Spindle will help make sure it is the right comfort option for you. You not only have a full year to make sure this bed is for you, but you also have the option of adjusting the layers during that time too. Spindle is driven to make sure you love your mattress, and if you don’t then you can easily return it within 365 days for a full refund too.
Spinkle offers a 10-year limited warranty. Like most mattress warranties they have a 10-year prorated warranty that coincides with the natural average wear of the bed over time. This warranty is fairly standard and provides consumers with the confidence that this is a product that the company will stand behind.
Spindle however also offers a 25-year comfort renewal program as well. This basically allows you to replace any layers in your mattress within 25 years of the purchase at a discounted price. This allows you to replace a layer that has been used more than others without having to replace the entire mattress.
