Solay Mattress Overview:
Five layers of foams and coil system create a flexible yet gentle support. The Solay provides a balanced bed that is soft enough to groove to your body but firm enough for adequate support. The top three layers of performance foams are great at relieving pressure points. That is what happens when the best attributes of memory foam mattresses and coil mattresses are combined. As well as adapting to your bodies sleeping position and needed support. The combined benefits of these foams make a mattress that is contouring yet easy to move on for a unique sleeping experience.
The 6″ coil system has precise support where needed. As well as an enhanced edge for a durable consistent feel. This also helps make the mattress more durable and solid from edge to edge. The base foam provides a sturdy and smooth foundation too. All of this is covered in an ultra-breathable and soft TENCEL cover making this mattress ideal for all sleepers. It will work as a great mattress for stomach sleepers as well as a mattress for side sleepers who will benefit.

Your new Solay hybrid mattress will be shipped for free after being compressed and roll packed. It will come about 3-7 days after being ordered and once it arrives it will be ready to sleep on in minutes. The box is fairly heavy and having two people get it to where it needs to go will be easiest. Once there, just open the box, pull out the wrapped mattress and carefully cut the plastic open. It will be a simple process as you can see in our video below.
As far as off-gassing goes you will notice a bit of odor when unrolling this mattress. It is very tightly compressed and packed which may contribute to the layer of air able to flow making noxious odors more prominent initially. Once you let it air out and dissipate for a few hours you should be good to go. If you are more sensitive to smells than leaving a window open would be helpful too.
This mattress didn’t take very long at all to expand, however, giving it a few hours to not only breathe but also fully expand would be beneficial. Regardless of whether for scent or feel, we would recommend allowing the mattress to stay uncovered hold off on sleeping for at least 3-4 hours.
The Solay mattress is a hybrid mattress made of several foam layers and a coil system. They pair together to make an 11″ universally comfortable mattress. This bed uses foams that are more in between the qualities of a memory foam and latex. Meaning they aren’t too cocooning but aren’t too bouncy either. They have a very balanced and adaptive feel that works well for pressure relief while still moving easily.
This mattress is going to be more of a true medium feel to slightly medium soft feel depending on how heavy you are. This is a great option for side sleepers and back sleepers who like a softer feel. However, the mattress is still plenty supportive too, so even though those top layers are plenty plush, stomach sleeping occasionally is still comfortable too. It’s also one of the great mattresses for heavy people due to its support.
Sleeping Comfortably: Our Thoughts on the Solay Mattress
During our review, we enjoyed sleeping on the Solay hybrid mattress. The feel was much more of a true medium feel than the majority of hybrids we try and many memory foam mattresses too. It is definitely a great choice for a side sleeper who likes support but a cushioned top. It did a nice job of evenly distributing weight too.
This made for sleeping in all positions comfortable and adaptable to all shapes and sizes. It also relieved pressure points and was contouring but moved with you when changing sleeping positions. This mattress was a pleasant surprise that may have been a bit softer but was still optimally supportive and giving the sleeper excellent pressure relief.
This sleep hybrid mattress has a few qualities that make it good for motion isolation too. The Solay uses a quantum coil system that uses individually wrapped coils. This allows each coil to be independent to provide precise support as well as not contribute to motion transfer. On top of that each coil is also pocketed, meaning it is wrapped in fabric to soften vibrations as well.
Along with the three layers of foams over the coil system the combination makes for limited partner disturbance. For the average getting in and out of bed and minimal tossing and turning you are surely not going to contribute to additional movement on this mattress. Even for a lighter sleeper you should notice very minimal motion transfer.
Again, the benefits of a hybrid come into play on performing well in this category. Any mattress that uses a coil system has the advantage of air flow and a space for heat to escape. When body heat is trapped in the foams, having an outlet below in the coil system makes a tremendous difference. This not only gives heat a place to go but the coil system also provides a bit of spring and flexibility to help you easily move and never feel stuck and get the sleep you deserve from a decent hybrid memory foam coil bed like this.
The top comfort foams of this mattress also work well for sleeping more temperature neutral and prevent hot sleepers. These foams not only have added properties to help them breathe better but also aren’t memory foam. Considering memory foam is one of the warmest materials to sleep on, eliminating it all together makes for a less warm sleeping surface. These foams are buoyant enough to allow you to easily move and change positions too. Meaning you never feel stuck in one place that builds up heat and detracts from your sleeping experience.
The edge support of a mattress can be looked at from two usable standpoints. One from a sleeping perspective and the other from sitting. For us, sleeping is the number one priority in a mattress. Having a perimeter that is sturdy and solid creates a nice even and consistent sleeping space. This makes for a fully usable sleeping surface. The other aspect is sitting, which we understand happens. However, keeping it to a minimum is best for any mattress but having a solid edge that makes this easier is nice.
The Solay bed does use a 6″ coil system that has reinforced coils around the edges. This helps make the foundation and core more solid and provide a good base for the comfort foams. The top layers are a it softer and more pliable which does cause some sinkage when sitting but for sleeping does make for a uniform and consistent feel.
The Solay mattress is currently running a promotional price of $1295 for a queen. This is $300 off the listed price making it a great deal. With this, you also get free shipping and a 101-night sleep trial period. As well as a 15-year warranty that is more than substantial. For the components, the comfort and support as well as many benefits of this bed this price tag is right on par. What makes it even better is an additional 10% off you can save just by using the coupon code: SOLAY10 when purchasing at solaysleep.com.
The Solay mattress comes with a 101-night trial period. This time period is more than enough to try out the mattress. With any new mattress, you should always allow at least a few weeks to break in the mattress and get a true feel of how it works for you and your body. Giving yourself several months to try the Solay is more than plenty and if it doesn’t work out it is easy to return and refund you too.
Each Solay mattress comes with a 15-year limited warranty. This is a bit longer the majority of warranties for mattresses. This is a good testament not only to the materials but construction as well. It also shows that this company is standing behind their product and looking for the best sleeping experience for their customers.
