It also has a zippered cover that is easily removable and washable. These features make this mattress a dream, especially for the cleaning enthusiast. Marpac is an online company that specializes in “tools for sleep” and now offers the Yogabed in their line.
Marpac Yogabed – Brief Overview:
Marpac acquired Yogabed in 2018. Their years of experience in the sleep tools industry allowed them to expand their offerings into mattresses too. With taking over the already established Yogabed they were able to take an existing brand and enhance it too. Most people may recognize Marpac as a leader in sound machines. Offering a soothing lull into your sleep. Now with the Yogabed they an offer yet another instrument in helping consumers get a peaceful uninterrupted night of rest.
Even though there is new management the Yogabed hasn’t changed. They still provide the same 10″, four foam layers that made the Yogabed so appealing to begin with. The combination of comans provide response as well as pressure relief. And the base is sturdy and solid to provide plenty of support. Making for a great balanced feel that will work for many sleepers. With any Marpac product you also get free shipping as well as 101 night trial period. With the Yogabed you also get a 10 year warranty too. Make sure to check out all the products as well as find the latest coupons available at Marpac.com.
Below we have our detailed review for the Marpac Yogabed mattress. We will go through how it performs for off gassing, comfort, motion transfer, sleeping cool, edge support, value, material, trial and warranty.
Delivery & Off Gassing:
Shipping is included with your Yogabed, adding no additional fees for you. Once it shows up at your door all you need to do is get it to where it needs to go and unbox it. It should show up right at your door and in a fairly compact box, for a mattress anyway. Getting it to where it needs to go may take two sets of hands. It is about 75 lbs and a little awkward to maneuver if your on your own.
Once you get it to where you’ll be sleeping it should only take a few minutes to get it out of the box and take it out of the plastic. The initial expansion of the mattress will only take a few minutes. However, for the foams to fully firm up it will take another day or two. Just keep that in mind the first few nights.
During the unboxing process you will notice a bit of off gassing but it should be very minimal. With most boxed mattresses there will be a little bit of smell once it is allowed to unroll and take shape, but this one is made in the US which helps tremendously with cutting down on any noxious odors. It should be fine within a few hours but if you are more sensitive to certain smells letting it breath for 12 to 24 hours would probably be a good idea.
See how easy the Yogabed is to unbox in our video below!
Marpac Yogabed – Comfort:
The Yogabed mattress is an all foam mattress with four layers of foam that create a medium feeling mattress. This mattress is great for someone who likes their bed to be right in the middle. It isn’t not too firm or too soft and is also great for someone who likes the feel of memory foam.
This mattress will work best for side sleepers and back sleepers. It may work well for a stomach sleeper but may not have the necessary support you’d need to be comfortable throughout the entire night. The base does have good support and feels solid. If you are a larger person you should still feel comfortable in this bed. It may be a little softer feeling on top though.
This more solid base is also good for getting the most out of the mattress and help it hold up better over time. The top layers of yoga foam and memory foam provide just enough softness and sink to relieve pressure to make the it a comfortable bed that should work well for many people who enjoy a truly medium feeling bed.
Marpac Yogabed – Motion Transfer:
For the average amount of movement while sleeping or for the person who gets up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, feed the baby, etc., their should be minimal disruptions due to vibrations. The multiple layers of foam in the Yogabed create a great cushion that easily absorbs movement. Making motion isolation nothing to be concerned about. This mattress will even cause little vibrations with more dramatic movements, making it great for couples, light sleepers or anyone with different sleeping schedules sharing a bed.
Marpac Yogabed – Sleeping Cool:
The Yogabed is an all foam mattress that uses a combination of foams. Many times all foam mattresses will have a tendency to hold more heat than hybrid or innerspring alternatives. To alleviate this aspect Yogabed has a few additions they incorporated into their mattress to help it sleep more temperature neutral.
The top layer of Instant Response YogaFoam is not only more responsive to allow for you never to feel stuck. it also is an open cell foam that helps disperse heat and pull it away from the body. Under this is YogGel memory foam that is 7x greater at conductivity than traditional memory foam. Which basically means it is better at sleeping cool and comfortable. The two layers of support and base foam create a solid and durable base that won’t let you snk in to much either. Making for an all foam bed that does a good job at sleeping on the cooler side.
Marpac Yogabed – Edge Support:
The edge support on the Yogabed Mattress was pretty good. The base foam is more dense and this helps the edges of the bed feel more stable too. The top layers of foam are consistent and firm enough for a nice even feel.
We found that sitting on the edge there felt like there was a little less support. However sleeping on the bed allowed us full edge to edge sleep surface without having the rolling off the edge feel. This factor is especially great if you share a full size or queen size bed with a partner.
Marpac Yogabed – Value:
The Yogabed comes in at a fairly standard price point. Most online all foam 10″ mattresses range from $700 to $1000. With this one coming in at $949 for a queen size. It includes free shipping as well as 101 night trial and 10 year warranty. Making this mattress a fairly good value.
The Yogabed is a good mattress for anyone who wants to stay under the $1000 price point while still getting a quality, supportive base foam as well as a nice soft, cool memory foam feeling top. This also doesn’t include their latest coupon. Learn more and save on your Yogabed at Marpac.com.
Materials & Construction (Comfort Layers):
The Yogabed mattress is a 10″ mattress that is comprised of four layers. The layers include the top layer of 1″ Instant Response YogaFoam. This layer of “yoga foam” that is a poly foam that is meant to take the best properties of memory foam without the negatives. It is more responsive and was designed specifically to relive pressure, regulate temperature and also be durable for the long haul.
The 2nd layer is 2″ YogaGel Cooling Memory Foam. The layer below the top is a gel infused cooling memory foam. Memory foam allows you your body to relax and alleviates pressure. This layer works with the top layer to create the comfort and softness for the mattress.
Materials & Construction (Support Layers & Cover):
The base of this mattress is 5″ Breathable High Density Foam and another 2″ of Super Support Base Foam. The bottom layers of this bed use two types of dense, base foam to construct the bulk of the support for this mattress. These work in harmony with the top layers to provide a solid base to allow the comfort layers to work optimally to create a supportive, yet soft mattress.
This is all contained in a “Zip & Wash” cover that is easy to remove and wash. The cover of this bed is more than likely a polyester or polyester blend. The cover is defined around the center perimeter of the mattress by a zipper that can be completely zipped off and separates the top part of the cover from the bottom. This is great for a very easy transition to wash it.
However, I would still strongly encourage anyone to use a mattress protector instead for keeping your mattress clean. This will help prevent anything from sinking through the cover. Even though you can remove the cover, dust mites, sweat and liquid would still penetrate the top and get onto the mattress.
Trial Period & Warranty:
The Yogabed mattress has a 101 night trial period. Giving you a full three months to try this mattress out for yourself. It will take a few days at least for your body to adjust, so make sure you give it at least 3 days before making up your mind. If you don’t love your new Yogabed no problem. You can easily return the mattress and get a full refund.
The Yogabed has a 10 year warranty. This warranty is fairly standard and is prorated to coincide with the natural average wear of the bed over time. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a product that the company will stand behind.
