The Leesa mattress is a three-layer all foam mattress that creates a 10″ bed. This mattress is comprised of a 2″ top layer of Avena foam that provides airflow and bounce. The top layer sits on another 2″ of pressure relieving memory foam. This foam offers contouring pressure relief and just enough hug.

These comfort layers sit on 6″ of dense base foam. The foundation provides the core and durability of this mattress. These foams work together to provide a mattress that is ideally supportive as well as just soft enough to cradle you. As well as firm enough to give you the best spinal alignment and ergonomic support. All of these ideal layers are wrapped in a breathable and soft over that perfectly accentuates the Leesa mattress.

These layers create a perfect medium-firm feel. It is sot enough to comfortably sleep on your side. Firm enough to sleep on your stomach. Has great lumbar support for back sleepers. And the durable materials and construction appeal even to larger sleepers. The all foam bed does great for isolating motion. While the unique design and placement of the top layer creates a more temperature neutral foam mattress. Giving it plenty of benefits that will appeal to all sleepers.

As well as discuss the value, materials and delivery process. For more information on Leesa also make sure to check out their website directly at Leesa.com.

Delivery & Off Gassing:

leesa vs nectarThe Leesa mattress is delivered via UPS for free with your order. Or there is the option to upgrade to white glove delivery for a small feel. Regardless, each bed is custom made in the USA after your purchase is processed. Making it specifically for you and not roll packing it until it until it leaves the factory. It is then put into a fairly compact box that will weigh about 70lbs for a queen size. And within a week will show up at your door step.

The box may need two sets of hands to maneuver, but once it is to its final location the unboxing will only take a few minutes. Simply by opening the box, removing the rolled up mattress and cutting away the plastic your bed will be expanding in no time. The initial expansion of the mattress shouldn’t take long at all. However, before getting a true feel of the bed’s comfort and firmness allow for at least 24 hours after unboxing to let it fully expand and allow the foams to firm up.

While it is inflating you may notice a few odors and new mattress smells. These will be minimal and quickly dissipate. Many coming from the plastic itself but also a few from the mattress that won’t linger too long. If you are a bit more sensitive, opening a window should alleviate the fumes quickly. This mattress is again made in the USA with the best and certified materials keeping off gassing odors minimal.

See how easy the Leesa is to unbox for yourself in our video below!

Leesa Mattress Foundations:

When setting up your new mattress it will need a foundation that provides a flat, even surface that will support the weight of the mattress as well as the sleepers. It also will need to be the right height for you as well as be aesthetically appealing. The Leesa mattress would work great on a box spring with or without a frame, an adjustable base, a platform bed or slatted bed. When you purchase your Leesa mattress your will also have the option of adding an adjustable base, frame or foundation if you need to. All of this accessories work perfectly with the mattress and can be found at Leesa.com.

leesa mattress reviewThe comfort of the Leesa mattress combines two performance foams with different properties to compliment each other for the perfect feel and balance. This all foam mattress uses cooling and responsive Avena foam. As well as contouring and pressure relieving memory foam. These two foams work together to create an ideal universal feel that appeals to a large range of sleepers and all sleeping positions.

These comfort layers sit on a solid, dense base foam that creates the core and foundation of the mattress. All three layers work in harmony to provide proper support and spinal alignment. As well as an optimal comfort and feel that is just hugging enough but still allows you to easily move around. This soft yet supportive mattress is considered a medium firm feeling bed and will fall around a 6 on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the softest and 10 the firmest.)

The feel of the Leesa bed will work for ALL sleepers and positions. It should be firm enough for stomach sleepers to have plenty of support without their back bowing. And still soft enough for side sleepers to easily allow their shoulders and hips to sink in. As well as ideal for back sleepers who need good lumbar support and just enough sink. Even a heavier person should find this mattress comfortable, however, it may feel more like a medium mattress if you are heavier.

Our Leesa Comfort Experience:

Our experience on the Leesa mattress was delightful. It truly had a level of firmness that worked well for all sleeping positions. As well as a combination of foams that did exactly what you would expect. Allowed for proper pressure relief where needed but never made you feel stuck in one position. It allowed for a fairly temperature natural surface throughout the night and slept comfortable for both or our sizes and shapes.

Leesa Mattress – Motion Transfer:

This mattress is an all foam mattress and like any all foam mattress it will have minimal motion transfer. Even with the more responsive top comfort layer made of Avena foam, the vibrations will be very soft. The Avena foam creates ease of moving without adding a significant amount of bounce.

The addition of the memory foam under the top foam creates another layer that easily deadens and isolates motion. Even the dense base foam will absorb any movement, if it even gets that far. Creating a sleeping surface ideal for even the lightest sleepers. Making sharing a bed easy as can be even with different sleep schedules or with a tosser and turner.

Leesa Mattress – Sleeping Cool:

leesa mattress reviewThe Leesa mattress has several properties that help it stay cooler. Typically all foam mattresses sleep a little warmer due to minimal areas for heat to dissipate. However, the Leesa tries to alleviate this by using a top layer of convoluted Avena foam. This foam has a unique shape that is not only aerated with holes but has “hills and valleys” on the bottom side to create air flow and minimize heat retention.

This mattress also uses memory foam, but the memory foam layer is under the layer of Avena foam. This helps by eliminating direct contact between warmer memory foam and your body. The Leesa bed uses a sturdy and dense base foam too. This creates a surface that contours to you but doesn’t allow you to sink in too far. This helps allow your body to stay closer to the top and provide more air to flow around it. And lastly this bed is covered in a breathable and soft layer of fabric that won’t add to any heat build up too.

We were pleasantly surprised with how this bed performed for sleeping cooler. With most foam and memory foam mattresses you expect at least a little added or retained warmth. But the Leesa did a good job of keeping the excessive amount of built up heat to a minimum. Creating a more temperature neutral surface throughout the night.

Leesa Mattress – Edge Support:

leesa mattress reviewWhen looking at the edge support on any mattress there are two key aspects to keep in mind. How it performs for sleeping as well as sitting. We scrutinize the sleeping aspect more than the sitting, mostly because a mattress is not intended to be used for sitting, especially for extended periods of time.

The Leesa mattress uses several layers of dense, quality foams that create a very even and level sleeping surface. The bed is easily able to be slept on from the middle to the edge. With the majority of it comfortable and consistent. Creating a mattress with good edge sleeping support.

However, like many mattresses that are all foam sitting on the edge will have a lack of heavy duty support. This mattress falls into this category. It does well for sleeping but we wouldn’t recommend sitting on he edge for extended periods of time.

Leesa Mattress – Value:

The Leesa mattress is priced at $940 for a queen size. With this price you also get free delivery, a 100 night sleep trial and a 10 year warranty. The price point along with the benefits of this mattress make it a good value. Not only are you getting  a bed that is supportive, comfortable and checks all the major boxes of a comfortable sleeping surface. You also get a company that offers great customer service, a program that gives back to the community and a USA made and based product.

Materials & Construction:

leesa vs nectarThe Leesa mattress is a 10″ three layer all foam mattress. The top layer is 2″ of 3.65lb density Cooling Avena Foam. This layer of foam is convoluted to create hills and valleys for air to flow and heat to dissipate. It is also aerated to decrease heat retention too. This foam has latex like properties that give it just enough responsiveness to move easily too.
