Brooklyn Bedding is a US based mattress company whose been around for many years. Originally based as a single retail store they have expanded mostly due to their “best mattress ever” model. Brooklyn Bedding is unique in that they are one of the few “bed in a box” companies that has their own factory that produces their mattress. This factory can produce up to 1,600 mattresses a day. This helps keep costs, materials and processes in check as well as the quality of the end product.
This mattress utilizes innovative technology to create a latex alternative foam. This foam allows the cost to stay down yet still making a mattress with similar benefits of latex. The Brooklyn Aurora mattress also incorporates a coil system too. Not only do the comfort layers provide a responsive yet hugging feel with great pressure relief. The coils offer a durable and sturdy core for ultimate support and proper spinal alignment. It makes for a quality bed with great materials at an affordable price. Brooklyn Aurora Video Review
Brooklyn Aurora Off Gassing & Delivery
The very first thing we needed to do with our new Aurora mattress is take it out of the box and get it set up. It should show up right at your door and in a fairly compact, but heavy 100+ lb box. Getting it to where it needs to go will take two sets of hands. Once you get it to where you’ll be sleeping it should only take a few minutes to get it out of the box and take it out of the plastic and come to life. It may take up to 24 hours for the mattress to fully expand and firm up. However, we found that it took only a few minutes to fully expand and a few hours to firm up.
During the unboxing process you may notice a bit of off gassing but it should be very minimal, especially since it is made in the USA too. With most boxed mattresses there will be a little bit of smell initially. Once it is allowed to unroll and take shape it should dissipate. It should be fine within a few hours but if you are more sensitive to certain smells letting it breath a few hours would probably be a good idea.
When we unboxed our Brooklyn Aurora mattress we didn’t notice any strong fumes and very minimal off gassing. Being made in the states, as well as made in it’s own factory, definitely helps with keeping off gassing to a minimum.
Watch our video below to see how easy it is to unbox the Brooklyn Aurora!
When setting up your new mattress it will need a foundation that provides a flat, even surface that will support the weight of the mattress as well as the sleepers. It also will need to be the right height for you as well as be aesthetically appealing. Brooklyn Bedding also sells box springs, adjustable bases and platform beds. Otherwise the Brooklyn Bedding mattress would work great on any box spring with or without a frame, an adjustable base, a platform bed or slatted bed.
Brooklyn Aurora Comfort
The Brooklyn Aurora mattress uses a two layers of TitanFlex foam and a layer of memory foam over a solid coil system to create their 13.5″ mattress. The top layers are a reactive TitanFlex foam that have the bounce and response like latex. It is very comfortable and make an easy to move on mattress. These top two layers are comfort layers that also is meant to aide in keeping the mattress from getting too warm too. Under this is a layer of visco gel memory foam. This foam is dynamite for pressure relief and works great with the TitanFlex foam to create an ideally comfortable and pressure relieving mattress that works for everyone.
This mattress is available in three firmness options, soft, medium and firm. The soft options should fall around a 3 on a firmness scale. With 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. This option will work best for side sleepers and back sleepers. It will be a little softer on top and allow you to sink in a bit more and contour to your shoulders and hips easily.
The medium option should come in at about a 6 on the firmness scale. This option would work well for any sleeping position because it should be soft enough to contour to your body but firm enough to provide plenty of support. This is going to be the most popular feel and be best for not only every sleeping position but couples who share a mattress too.
The firm option will be around an 8 on the firmness scale. This option would work best for stomach sleepers as well as back sleepers. It will have a more solid cushioned top that won’t let you sink in too much. It is also good to note that if you are a heavier person that these options will feel a little softer to you, so keep that in mind. Having the option to choose between three firmness levels should allow you to find the right feel that is best for you. Regardless, this mattress is comfortable as well as supportive and will guarantee for a great night sleep.
We tried the Brooklyn Aurora in the medium option. We found it to be VERY comfortable for both of us. It not only felt great but offered plenty of support with optimal and adaptable spinal alignment. The medium was a perfect compromise of being perfectly soft and firm. It was great for pressure relief and had just enough sink and contouring while still feeling stable and durable. This mattress exceeded our expectations for comfort and worked perfectly for every sleeping position.

Brooklyn Aurora Motion Transfer
The Brooklyn Aurora mattress is made of TitanFlex foam, memory foam as well as individually wrapped ergonomic support coils. This mattress may have a bit more spring than several other all foam mattresses because of the natural buoyancy of its materials. However, using the pocketed coils that are each wrapped in fabric help reduce any motion in the coil system. This mattress will be easy to move on, but shouldn’t make for much for partner disruption. It also has a transition layer made of memory foam. This layer was specifically added not only for great comfort, but motion isolation. This layer is a great barrier between the TitanFlex foams and coils to dissolve and motion. For a hybrid mattress this did a great job for minimizing movements.
Brooklyn Aurora Sleeping Cool
The Brooklyn Aurora mattress is all about keeping you as cool as can be. This is done with every material meticulously chosen with cooling attributes in mind. The top two comfort layers are patented TitanFlex foam. This foam is a latex alternative foam that has many of the same properties as this naturally aerated and non-heat absorbing foam.
Not only are the top two layers made of this foam but the very top layer also uses the advanced new technology of TitanCool. This water based surface add on uses high conductivity to draw heat out and away. This layer is also infused with TitaniumGel which also creates better breathablilty. And these are just the properties in the foams.
The pocketed Quantum coil system is not only durable and supportive but great for sleeping cool. Having a place for any trapped heat to easily dissipate between coils makes for a much cooler mattress. The cover is also infused with phase changing material to add a moisture wicking property as well as a cool to the touch feel. This mattress was definitely made with the warm sleeper in mind.
Brooklyn Aurora Edge Support
The edge support on this mattress is going to be very solid and sturdy. It allows you to fully utilize the mattress from edge to edge and head to foot. The quantum coil set used in this mattress not only provides great support throughout but also has a reinforced edge that makes for a more durable perimeter. This mattress will feel very consistent across the top and will make for a mattress that is not only fully usable but also more adaptable to being sat on too. The edges will not feel easily broken down while periodically sitting on them. This mattress is durable and constructed well and the details make for an even better mattress.

The very top layer of foam is 1.5″ of 4lb TitanFlex foam with a phase change material as well as a cooling surface coating for extra coolness. This one of a kind latex alternative foam is not only immediately responsive but also very comfortable and ideally cooling for a great top layer. Each firmness option will have coinciding comfort in this layer to make for the best feel for soft, medium and firm preferences.
The second layer is an additional 2″ of 4lb TitanFlex Foam. This layer has the same benefits of the top layer but is a little firmer to allow for more support and pressure relief.
The third layer of comfort foam is 1″ of breathable Visco Gel Memory Foam. This layer is also adjusted to be ideal for each comfort level and respond accordingly to you body. This layer is great for isolating motion as well as additional support and adaptable pressure relief and will give just enough contouring hug to your body. It also is a great transition layer between the more responsive TitanFlex foams and the coil system.
The core of this mattress is a 8″ thick Quantum Edge Pocketed Coil System. This coil system allows for great support and easy movement. It also makes for plenty of heat dissipation to keep cool all night. This very solid and durable system uses individually fabric wrapped coils for minimizing motion transfer and the perfect pressure relieving flexible support.
All of this sits on 1″ of dense base foam that provides a solid and firm foundation for the coils and comfort foams. This layer adds an even surface for the coils to sit on and stay in place while doing their job.
These 13.5″ of materials are covered in a soft and breathable two way stretch knit cover. It also uses phase changing material in about 50% of the fabric to help wick away moisture and stay cool to the touch. This very sleek and durable cover compliments the design of this mattress and even uses luxurious velvety fabric around the edges. Not to mention the handles for easy moving.
