Helix Comfort Options At A Glance
To break it down simply, below is visual chart of the six Helix comfort options. Two soft options, two medium and two firm. While the options in the left hand column are recommended for side sleepers and those in the right hand column are best for combination sleepers.
Helix vs Helix Luxe Performance
When it comes to comparing these two mattresses the build and construction really set them apart. Though the comfort options will appeal to a large variety of people, that may not be the determining factor of which bed you go with. Especially since both offer a great feel for many sleepers needs. However, the additional benefits that each of these beds offers may be what gives one an edge over the other.
Below we will take a look at how they both perform for limiting motion transfer, sleeping cool and providing durable edge support. As well as how they compare and if there is a clear winner between the two.
When it comes to the Helix and Helix Luxe you’ll be happy to know that optimizing motion isolation was taken into account for both options. By using a coil system that has individually wrapped coils you get a solid and precision support system that also reduces partner disturbance. Since the coils aren’t interconnected, vibrations are limited to travel to your partner.
Though both of these mattresses do a wonderful job of minimizing motion transfer, the added foam layer and quilted cover of the Helix Luxe will further reduce any excess vibration. Another added bonus is the mattress options that use two layers of memory foam, including the Midnight Luxe and Twilight Luxe, will have even slightly less motion transfer. By utilizing slower responding foams that are even less effected by movement. Making these two our top recommendations for anyone who wants the Helix mattress with the least partner disturbance.
Though we prefer the upgrades the Helix Luxe offers, especially in this area, the original Helix will still do an amazing job of creating a mattress with limited motion transfer. Making every Helix mattress option one that won’t bring any excess motion transfer to the bedroom. And all while still providing superior support and comfort.
Another area that is a hot topic – pun intended – is how cool they sleep. We would never go as far to say that either mattress will literally cool you down. But, when it comes to a new mattress finding one that sleeps temperature neutral is key. The last thing you want is a mattress that holds heat and warms you up over the course of the night.
The fact that both of these mattresses are hybrid style builds already give them an advantage over any foam mattress. By incorporating a coil system you not only get long lasing support but also great air flow through the core of the mattress. Any heat that may potentially build in the foam layers has a place to dissipate to ensure much more comfortable sleep for a full 8+ hours.
While both use a variety of foams there vary slightly, you may find that the options that use less memory foam or memory foam as the secondary layer, like the Dusk and Moonlight, will be best for sleeping cool. By using a more responsive foam closer to the top you will have less heat retention. Though the Luxe options do help offset heat retention in the memory foam by using gel infusion to better regulate heat.
The Helix Luxe also uses materials that help to regulate heat as well. The cover is a Tencel fabric that is very breathable and cool, as well as super soft. This paired with the lofty quilting that uses ultra cool technology keep the surface cooler.
The Helix standard mattress is also a good option for sleeping cool. By naturally having less foam you will have less space for heat to be retained as well as sink in. However, the materials may not offset heat retention on the surface as readily as in the Luxe. Making these two mattresses fair quite evenly when it comes to minimizing heat retention. Making them both the winner.
Just like with the cooling aspect of this mattress, Helix has taken plenty of steps to make sure their beds have a proper amount of edge support. Each mattress option is solid and sturdy from every angle making the edge just as consistent as the middle. They have plenty of support thanks to both their foam layers and coil layers.
The durable foams are dense and resilient allowing for plenty of comfort while still providing necessary support. Creating a very level and even sleeping surface. While the coil system uses reinforced coils around the perimeter to enhance the consistency and durability of the edges.
Sleeping on both of these mattresses will allow you to really use the full bed. And the firmer options will feel even more solid, especially around the edges. Making for great sleep and a fully usable mattress. As far as sitting goes, even that will be okay, especially if only occasional. Giving both the Helix and Helix Luxe top marks when it comes to edge support.
Which Helix Is Best?
We know it may be hard to pick. Especially when both mattresses offer so many benefits. In the end it really comes down to if you want a more luxurious, thicker premium Luxe option or a more affordable yet still very accommodating Helix original mattress. We really love both of these beds, but if you are going to make an investment into your sleep we would have to say the the Helix Luxe is worth the added price.
The overall more substantial build, as well as enhanced feel, do set this option apart from the standard option. However, if you don’t want a bed that is quite so thick or you want a mattress that is under $1000 in a queen size, the Helix hybrid is one that is hard to beat when it comes to quality for that price.
