These two beds have quite different processes when it comes to how they are packaged and delivered. The Loom & Leaf mattress is not compressed and put in a box. Instead they cover it in plastic after being made and shipped to various locations. From these hubs it is than delivered through a local white glove delivery service. This service than sets up a time to hand deliver this mattress right to your bedroom. They do all the set up, clean up and even removal of your old mattress. The mattress is not compressed and roll packed and therefor also almost has no off gassing. Delivery is a breeze and there are a few lingering manufacturing fumes.
On the other hand you have the traditional rolled packed and delivered mattress with the Casper. Drop shipping may be considered more convenient than white glove delivery to some. This process takes the mattress and compresses it down as flat as possible and than tightly rolls it in plastic. It is than put in a box and delivered right to your door. You will more than likely need two people to compete the job. But once it is to your room it should only take a few minutes to unroll. This process does trap more fumes, especially the smell of the plastic. When unboxing you will notice some noxious odors, but they should dissipate fairly quickly. Giving the bed several hours to breathe is a good idea.
These mattresses are going to vary in feel and comfort and this aspect is highly subjective to each sleeper. However, when comparing these beds to each other there will be a few ways of objectively approach how comfortable they may be.
First off the Loom & Leaf mattress has two options to choose from, a relaxed firm and firm option. The Casper mattress has one universal feel that is meant to feel more medium-firm. A relaxed firm, or medium-firm, will have a similar firmness, around a 6 to 6.5 on a firmness scale of 1 through 10, 1 being the softest and 10 being firmest.
This will be most ideal for the majority of people since it offers the right amount of support as well as enough softness & cushion for all sleeping positions. The Loom and Leaf will be able to appeal to more customers because not only does it have this desirable medium-firm option but also a firm choice, if desired.
Loom & Leaf Materials:
The Loom & Leaf mattress is over 12 inches thick with 4 layers of foam as well as a thick, quilted cover that is over half an inch by itself. These layers consist of two dense layers of memory foam that make up the top 4.5″ of the mattress. Under this is a 2″ transition layer over 5.5″ of dense durable base foam.
This mattress has a true memory foam feel that allows you to be hugged and cocooned just enough but is high quality, dense memory foam that allows you to easily transition as well. This mattress really focuses on quality materials and construction that make it that much more durable and will feel the same as when you bought it for many years to come. The comfort of this mattress is superior to many mattresses that don’t use the high end materials found in the Loom & Leaf.
The Casper mattress is a 10″ mattress that uses 4 layers of foam too. The top layer is going to be 1.5″ of a latex alternative poly foam. This layer is meant to mimic the feel of latex and be more responsive. This is followed by another 1.5″ of memory foam and 1.5″ of transition foam. These comfort layers sit on a 5″ base of dense support foam. The cover on this mattress is a little thicker too and roughly makes up the last 1/2″ that completes this mattress.
The Capser bed will still have plenty of comfort and appeal to many, however, the materials quality and thickness of the overall mattress will break down a bit sooner than a thicker, more substantial mattress made with higher grade materials..

Both of these mattresses are all foam mattresses and that alone will make for minimal motion transfer. The Loom & Leaf mattress is 12″, a significant 2″ thicker than the 10″ Casper mattress. This helps in many areas and motion transfer is definitely one of them.
The Loom and Leaf mattress will have two extra inches of foam that will absorb even more motion transfer and make it less noticeable. The Loom & Leaf is also made of several inches on top of dense, durable memory foam that will greatly reduce vibrations and leave no partner disturbance. The Casper bed will also have little motion transfer. However, the top layer is meant to have a more responsive feel that will provide a bit more vibrations. It is still and all foam bed and will isolate motion well, but when looking at these beds next to each other and you have to be picky the Loom and Leaf does a better job of minimizing movements.

As you already know, these are both all foam mattresses. Anytime you have all foam mattresses retaining heat may be more likely than on a mattress that utilizes a coil system. However, the Loom & Leaf pays close attention to this factor and incorporates materials from top to bottom that help reduce heat retention as much as they can. Capser also utilizes a few materials that reduce heat retention, but may have a few layers that could hold heat too.
The Loom and Leaf mattress incorporates an entire gel panel under the breathable quilted cover. This not only reduces heat but also relieves pressure points. They also infuse the top layer of memory foam with cooling gel that regulates temperature and minimizes over heating. The base foam also has breathable airflow channels that allow any retained heat a place to escape and dissipate. The attention to the detail in all aspects of the construction of the Loom & Leaf mattress make it a cut above and even for an all foam mattress will sleep cooler than many others.
The Casper mattress has a top layer that has an open cell layer of foam that is suppose to help pull heat away from the body. The top layer also acts as a barrier between the memory foam and the surface as well. They also cover it with a woven stretch knit cover. This cover is breathable and meant to dissipate heat. These materials will help reduce some of the heat retention but may not do enough if you are a very warm sleeper.

Edge support is important if you either sit on the edge form time to time or if it is important for you to use the full edge to edge sleeping surface of your mattress. Making sure that even the edges are solid and hold up will make a difference in how comfortable it is as well as how it performs for you.
The Loom & Leaf mattress uses very solid, dense materials and these materials are not compromised by being roll packed and put into a box. This alone will make a huge difference on the edge support. From the beginning they designed it with compression in mind. This allows for more solid, durable materials to be used and the edge support on this mattress will be very good and feel very sturdy. The Casper mattress performs fine for utilizing the edge while sleeping but may lack the desired support if you are sitting on the edge.
