Sleep On Your New Mattress For 30 Days

sleep on your bed for at least 30 nightsBefore you attempt to fully determine whether or not your new mattress is a good fit or not, you need to allow your body to fully adjust to this new change. It can take a while for your body to adjust to the new support and comfort of a mattress. This is especially true if you were previously sleeping on a broken-down old mattress that was lacking in proper support.

Your body may need to workout through a few things before it feels comfortable on a mattress that may actually be better for you and your overall comfort long term. Which is why we suggest giving any new mattress at least 30 night of rest on it before you decide to keep or return.

Keep Your Expectations Realistic

did i buy the wrong bed?Mattress marketing claims can be rather intense. It could lead you into believing that a new mattress is going to solve any and all aches and pains that you are experiencing. While an older, unsupportive mattress can cause a large number of aches and pains. Or a mattress that is either too soft or too firm for your sleeping style can cause all sorts of pains and issues. While this is all true, a mattress cannot solve any/all pain.

If you have always suffered from chronic back pain, and it is caused by something other than your mattress. Then it is highly unlikely that all of your back pain will be instantly cured by this new mattress. Which is why we recommend being excited about your new bed, while also ensuring your expectations are realistic.

Know What You Need Out Of Your Mattress:

testing out a new mattressBefore you make any purchase, it is good to know what you really need out of a mattress. For example, if you mostly sleep on your stomach, you are going to need a much firmer mattress than someone who sleep on their side.

This is because stomach sleepers need to keep their hips supported in order to keep their backs from bowing. Meanwhile side sleepers need more pressure relief for their shoulders and hips in order to keep their backs in proper alignment and to prevent any cutting off of circulation to arms and legs.

Should You Return Your Mattress?

is it time to return your mattress? Our first suggestion is of course to give your mattress 30 days to give your body enough time to adjust. If you are still experiencing discomfort after sleeping on your mattress, or if it has continued to get worse overtime. Then it is time to consider returning your mattress.

If it seems that not only has backpain or discomfort has continued, but in fact increased while using the bed. That is a sign that it is absolutely not the right mattress for you. Try to determine what it is about the mattress that is causing your pains, this will be helpful when trying to replace your mattress.

Another returnable offense is if your mattress is not meeting quality standards. If you mattress seems are coming apart, it is wearing down far too quickly, or any other quality issue you may run into. Be sure to check your warranties and see how you are covered. You may still be able to get your money back even if it is outside of the trial period.

How Do I Return My Mattress?

should you get a new bed?If you have given your new mattress 30 days, and it is still giving you a lot of trouble then it may be time to return. The process for returning a mattress is going to look different depending on the brand you purchased it from. Our first bit of advice is to contact the manufacturer of your mattress early on expressing your concerns. They often encourage the same 30-day trial period (or longer), just like we did. Reaching out earlier will make the return process a bit easier.

From there, it will vary on how that particular mattress brand will want to proceed on making a return. Some mattress brands have extensive trial periods and easy return processes. While others can be a bit more difficult to work with. Persistence is key as well as ensuring you reach out before any warranty expires or trial period ends. The more time the better.

Did I Get The Right Mattress? – Final Answer:

At the end of the day, only you can determine if you got the right mattress or not. If you are not comfortable and you do not enjoy sleeping on your new mattress. Then it isn’t the bed for you and it is time to find a new one.
